With his efforts, enthusiasm, qualifications and great contributions, Associate Professor. He is the one who brought Vietnam's congenital heart intervention technology to the world. He is responsible for making important changes to AI product platforms used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide, such as Email Smart Reply and iRanker.
He founded VinBrain with the mission of applying artificial intelligence and IoT to contribute to improving people's lives and enhancing productivity. He led his team to deploy DrAid™ - the first artificial intelligence-equipped physician assistant in Vietnam - used by more than 100 hospitals across Vietnam and the US. DrAid™ for diagnostic imaging V1 is the FIRST & ONLY artificial intelligence (AI) product used in chest X-ray diagnosis in Vietnam and Southeast Asia that is approved according to FDA standards. Professor Nguyen Van Tuan has more than 30 years of experience in medical research, including 20 years as director of the osteoporosis genetic research laboratory at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and director of the University's Center for Medical Technology Sydney (UTS). He was awarded the title 'Distinguished Professor' of UTS, and is also a Professor of Medicine (concurrent) of the University of New South Wales (Australia). To date, he is the first Vietnamese elected to the Australian Academy of Medicine (AHMS), the New South Wales State Academy of Science (RSN), and the American Society for Osteoporosis Research (ASBMR) Fellow.
Professor Nguyen Van Tuan is the author or co-author of more than 350 research projects published in leading medical journals in the world such as British Medical Journal, JAMA, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Reviews Endocrinology, and eLife. He is the inventor of the bone fracture risk assessment model and the BONEcheck digital tool that has been used globally. His and his colleagues' research has received more than 38,000 citations (H index = 93), and he is ranked among the most cited researchers in the world. He was in charge of editing journals in the field of osteoporosis such as Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Bone, Osteoporosis International, Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia.
He is one of the founders of the Ho Chi Minh City Osteoporosis Association and the Asia Pacific Osteoporosis Coalition (APCO). In Vietnam, he has made many contributions such as improving the field of osteoporosis in Vietnam through organization, research, and training; enhance the presence of Vietnamese medicine in the international arena through international publications; improve scientific research capacity for Vietnamese colleagues; Doctoral training in the country; and spread science and medicine. He has been awarded many awards in Vietnam, Australia and around the world, including the Outstanding Researcher Medal from the University of Technology Sydney.
